Porcelain veneers present one of the fastest ways to dramatically improve the appearance of your teeth and, with it, your self-confidence soars! At Barsanti Dental Group, we have invested in many advanced technologies and quality products and materials to assure your utmost satisfaction with the appearance, feel, and durability of your treated teeth. These investments also guarantee your satisfaction with the experience at our relaxing and well-appointed office. In addition, there are numerous alternatives to porcelain veneers. So, there is sure to be a way to address cosmetic imperfections that mar your smile and any underlying conditions that may require a restorative treatment, too, or instead of cosmetic procedures like veneers.
About veneers
Veneers are thin layers of dental porcelain or composite resin. They are applied to the front surfaces of the teeth to disguise several different types of cosmetic imperfections. You may be an excellent candidate for veneers if your teeth are:
- Chipped
- Cracked slightly
- Stubbornly or severely stained and discolored (discoloration resists professional whitening methods)
- Irregularly shaped
- Worn-down or short
- Gapped or unevenly spaced
More extensively chipped, fractured, or poorly-shaped and worn teeth may require more comprehensive restorative treatments, such as fillings or crowns. Additionally, we may recommend orthodontic treatments such as discreet ClearCorrect aligners if you have more advanced needs for teeth straightening and bite correction.
The process
Veneers are only placed on healthy teeth. For direct veneers, Dr. Barsanti starts by matching the color of the composite resin to the surrounding natural teeth. The resin or plastic-tooth-like material is then applied to the front surfaces of the natural teeth as a pliable putty. Dr. Barsanti then uses her artistic skill to shape the putty, covering up gaps, chips, and other concerns as she goes along. Once the resin looks and feels great, the material is bonded or fixed securely to the natural tooth. She uses high-speed bonding with cutting-edge adhesion agents and techniques to promote the most natural appearance and the fastest treatment process.
For indirect veneers, Dr. Barsanti first prepares the natural tooth. That involves removing a minimal amount of natural tooth enamel. Some porcelain veneers are so thin that no enamel is removed during the process. These “prep-less” veneers are, in turn, very conservative, tooth-preserving, and minimize the risk of tooth sensitivity associated with alteration of the natural structure. Impressions or models of the teeth are then made and used to guide the fabrication of each veneer from the highest quality dental porcelain. Patients appreciate porcelain for its superior replication of natural enamel, its strength, and its stain resistance. Once the porcelain is ready, perfectly colored, matched, and shaped to address your cosmetic concerns, Dr. Barsanti then uses her advanced products and skills to efficiently and precisely apply, refine, and securely fix or bond each veneer to the natural tooth. Veneers can last for many years with good oral hygiene at home and routine visits to our office for preventive care. We can also discuss specific ways to extend your veneers’ lifespan and keep them looking as great as the day they were placed. Veneers
Veneers are thin handcrafted porcelain shields worn on the front of the tooth which improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped, cracked, stained or worn. Veneers are thin as contact lenses, and are an aesthetically pleasing option of closing gaps, lengthening teeth, and providing symmetry to make your smile more natural. Veneers are intended to last for many years without changing color. They are one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in dentistry. Ask your dentist if veneers may be right for you.
